List of unsupported devices in V6
Dear TP-Link team.
Is it possible to get a list of devices, that are supported in controller V5 but will not be supported in controller V6? I read about the ECSPv2 requirement but couldn't find this information in the data sheets of the products.
E.g., we are operating some EAP225 v3 (firmware: 5.1.11) and v4 (firmware 5.2.3) and some T1500G-8T v2.0 (firmware 2.0.6) at one site, and I am afraid, that those will be unmanageable after the upgrade.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Martin

Hi @mwo
To update to the latest version 5.2.3, you need to update to the 5.2.2 first.

If still failed to update, please let us know.

Hi @mwo,
FWIW... I had no immediate problems with eap225 v3 (5.2.3 Build 20250709 Rel. 67584) but couldn't test much because my T1600G-28TS had issues. It went into a loop adopting the device disconnecting and adopting. It probably needs a firmware update to work but I'm thinking anything that's EoL is unlikely to get V6 support.

@D-C Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, I can't upgrade the V3 to 5.2.3. It is not offered by the controller, and if I try it manually, it fails and says, it's the wrong firmware. There seem to be several V3 Hardware versions. 5.1.11 seems to be the latest firmware for this edition.

@Vincent-TP Thank you Vincent. The update to 5.2.3 worked like a charm now. I somehow overlooked that the version requirements are different and only checked for 2.0.0.
Can you also confirm, that V6 will be able to manage the T1500G?
Kind regard

Hi @mwo
We are pleased to confirm that Omada 6.x maintains full backward compatibility with all EAP models supported in Omada 5.x.
>>>According to this info, it should work. I don't have a T1500G to test.
But you can test at your side without any cost:
1. backup the config file for the v5 controller;
2. Forget the switch T1500G from the current V5 controller;
3. Install the V6 software controller on a PC;
4. Plug the PC into the switch;
5. Try to adopt the switch and manage it. see if everything works as expected.

Yes, I know. The thing is, the switch is in a production environment in a branch office, 350 km away. If something goes wrong, it'll take an entire day to go there and set it up again and I don't really like to take this risk.
So, if I set up a VM with V6, this controller will see that the switch is managed by another controller. Would it be possible to also make it check for the correct protocol version?
Kind regards
Martin
