The only two methods of managing the device that I use are its web interface and the VIGI app from Google Playstore.

As the app does not offer any option to change the time sync method (only TZ and DST), I only use it for other management purposes, such as enabling / disabling motion detection, or change OSD settings.

Time sync changes are done exclusively via the web interface.

I live in an area where power outages are frequent. For every power loss I have to manually reconfigure the time? This is outrageous!

When I bought the camera it said nowhere in its technical description, or general presentation, that it is not capable of retaining time settings. Moreover, this is a security device, so how is it possible for it to not be able to properly track time? How is such a behavior deemed as "expected"?

What if my house gets robbed while I'm away? How can I show the evidence to the local police if the date and time resets and recordings are overwritten?

It seems to me that you people took my money using false advertising and sold me a defective product that perhaps can only be used as a webcam, because it offers 0 security.

Disgusting.

At this point I'm thinking legal action, but we'll see.

Some other additional questions:

- How come that if I set time sync method to NTP, when the device reboots it is the only setting that is not saved?

- How come that NTP successully synchronizes device's clock to a provided server if manually run? Why doesn't it do it automatically at bootup?

- If frequent reboots are not recommended, why does the device offer an auto reboot option that is executed every single time and successfully kept between reboots?

- If frequent reboots are not recommended, are there any guarantees that there will be no leaks of any type that would affect device's security and as a result easy access to the device by an attacker?

I have the same issue but a different date with VIGI C300HP-4 1.0 , firmware ver.1.0.5 build 210209 Rel.58606n.

When it reboots it resets to 2021-02-09 and the only way to fix it is to Get time from PC

as Get from Internet doesn't work at all in the VIGI Security Manager 1.7.2.0 been bugging me for a long time.

I use it standalone only as only Frigate and Scrypted use the streams.

Oh, so I am not the only one to have bought a buggy product...

As for now, I think I will move away from TP-LINK for good, as I don't want to replace the buggy camera with another one from them, that perhaps has the same problem.

Frankly, I don't know how such a basic feature is missing and, moreover, it still puzzles me why the reset is always going back to the day the firmware was released and not to, for example, 1970-01-01, at the beginning of UTC.
