Sorry, but just a bit confused ... as there seem to be 2 settings for the same DNS info - not quite sure how they work together :(. I'm hoping someone can clarify. Thanks in advance!

For the DNS configuration, I see 2 "conflicting" settings ... I think LOL. They are (both for the site),

1) Network Config > Internet > WAN port (for me, WAN1) > Advanced Settings > Primary and Secondary DNS Server ... thinking this sets the DNS server for the WAN port (on the gateway)

2) Device Config > Gateway > DNS > DNS Proxy (and Cache) ... I set up DoT, to Cloudflare (Malware filtered)

These are setting the same thing, no? Which one takes priority? And ... for all devices (and VPN, like WireGuard) - set the DNS server to the Gateway, it will take care of then Proxying?

Thanks again!

  @arrmo

The do not conflict

WAN port DNS settings are what the gateway itself will use for DNS, and it will also use those servers for LAN clients if the C=LAN clients point to the gateway IP for DNS

LAN DNS is set by DHCP, which you can point to whatever IP you want, including the gateway IP for that vlan.

DNS Proxy and cache only take effect if LAN clients use the gateway IP for DNS

  @GRL Thanks for the quick (and detailed) reply! But, still slightly confused, sorry,

I see them both as setting the DNS server that the gateway redirects to, no? LAN is separate, and could (and does in my case) point to the gateway ... but both below seem to set the upstream DNS server for the gateway. No?

Thanks again!
