Hi,

I'm a little confused by the purpose of ER703WP-4G, I noticed some other threads but I'm still not any clearer.

I was hoping it was a POE powered EAP + 4G modem but I suspect it's actually a small all-in-one 4G and Wifi Gateway?

I need something to install to my existing OMADA setup that can provide a 4G WAN connection back to the LAN (for failover) and extend my existing WiFi - The intention is to install to the roof (we're in a rural low internet supply location) so that the outside of my property has wifi from my existing network and my starlink has some redundancy.

I suspect from reading the manual (it has DHCP server, VPN etc) that this designed to be the only 'gateway' / 'router' device on the network.

Any pointers.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi  @ukandrewtaylor

Thanks for posting here.

I’m not entirely clear about your needs. Do you already have an Omada gateway? Do you want ER703WP-4G to serve as a backup WAN connection while also broadcasting WiFi for daily use? Typically, a backup device remains inactive and only takes over when the primary device goes offline. Therefore, these two functions cannot be fulfilled simultaneously.

Thanks;

I have a er7212pc already, with 5 EAPs.

Feeding the er7212pc I have WAN3 which is my starlink in bridge mode. I also have a non TP-LINK POE 4G modem on roof feeding WAN4.

This all works BUT having an Outdoor EAP on the roof is much better for me as my security cameras will then have a much strong signal. I can't easily run a second ethernet connection to the roof so hoped I could replace my existing non TP-LINK modem  with an ER703 and get both a LAN WIFI connection and a 4G WAN connection.

I think this device is more to replace my ER7212 than extend it with WiFi and 4G.

Thanks for the reply.

Andrew
