Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.3.3 Build 20251029 Rel.18054

Until recently, I was using DHCP combined with the IP-MAC Bidding/ARP inspection feature. However, when I detected a conflict that didn't exist before, I found out that the ER605 V2 is not capable of working simultaneously with DHCP and IP-MAC Bidding.

I always worked with it this way, detecting these conflicts and packet drops, but it never affected my access.

Since today I noticed many warnings coming from a smartphone, I became suspicious, but in the end I discovered that it's a feature of smartphones that constantly changes the MAC address, causing the conflict problem. But I'm curious, what I did isn't wrong. However, the ER605 V2 doesn't seem to have the capacity to support dual identity authority.

I wanted to confirm this and what products could replace it.

"This MAC address conflicts with an existing DHCP Reservation entry." <--

Hi  @Artur.Aragao

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

To assist you with this issue, may I ask what is your network topology?

Could you provide us with the screenshots of the related features or the conflict detection you found?

This is the topology.

I also want to point out that what's marked in red should be the TL-SG105PE 2.0.

But, back to the problem.

When I try to add an IP and MAC address that is already registered in DHCP, I receive the following message: "This MAC address conflicts with an existing DHCP Reservation entry."

Should this really happen? I had never noticed this message before the latest updates. And, after researching, what I want to do isn't wrong, as long as the product is prepared for this condition, and the ER605V2 doesn't seem to be.

That's why I'm here to understand, because it's a protection feature I want to use. It has never caused me any problems, except for the issue I had with a smartphone, but the reasons were clear for the device that constantly changes its MAC address. However, it caught my attention to review the other entries I had configured when I detected the conflict information with reserved MAC addresses.

I need more information about this and which devices are actually prepared for "duplicate authority over IP-MAC identity".

They mention that the best approach would be to configure IP-MAC-Port Binding on the SG2008 port. However, I haven't found where to do this, besides the option suggested in the ER605V2. Shouldn't there be a way to choose the device on which you want to implement this feature?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Good morning from Brazil.

I had configured this in version 5 and I don't recall seeing any information that when working with DHCP for VLANs, it wasn't possible to work with IPMAC-Biding for the IPs of this distribution. And, in version 6, I started noticing this image with the information that it was causing a conflict and that this could generate problems.

Even though I had this configuration for some time, this never occurred to me. I only started paying attention to it because I mistakenly put a MAC address in the IPMAC-Biding of the smartphone that constantly changes its MAC address. I removed it and was curious if the message occurred with the MAC addresses that were already in the DHCP reservations, and to my surprise, I saw the message about the conflict warning.

I don't want to be flippant. I had never seen or noticed this in version 5 and, if I'm not mistaken, in version 6. But, I started noticing it in version 6.1, the most recent one.

I want to point out that even chatGPT, when questioned about this, responded that what I wanted to do was correct, but that the ER605V2 doesn't have this capability. I became concerned.

I ended up removing all the IPMAC-Bidings. I'll reproduce 2. How do I get the details you need?

I don't need the analyst to access it remotely. I just need to understand if this is expected or if it's actually a problem.
