Using TL-SM5110-SR on OM1 Fiber at 1Gb Speed
Hi all,
Hope you are well,
May I know If I can use SFP+ 10Gb on OM1 Fiber at 1Gb speed ?
Can I manual force it by use CLI speed 1000 ?
Details:
Fiber cable: OM1 (Orange color)
Fiber distance: Around 150 meters
Switch model: SG6654XHP
SFP+ 10Gb: TL-SM5110-SR
Thank you,
Phuoc

Hi @PN1611
Thanks for posting here.
TL-SM5110-SR link speed is fixed at 10G. You can't let it work under 1G.
Why do you need the link to work as 1G?

@PN1611 You should be able to change the speed negotiated by the SFP+ using that command yes; just select the port and then use speed 1000 to change the speed. CLI Guide for switches is here: Managed Switch_CLI Guide | Omada Network Support

@NeilR_M thank you for that.
I know the switch supports speed commands, but my question is whether I can run at 1Gbps on SFP+ modules if I use them on both ends.

@PN1611 As long as both sides support it yes you can.

For several reasons, I’d like to leverage the existing OM1 fiber infrastructure before transitioning to 10Gb.
I may need to stick with the current OM1 fiber for 2 or 3 more years.

Hi @PN1611
If so, you may use two 1G SFP modules for these 2-3 years. TL-SM5110-SR can't negotiate at 1G.
