Firmware Version:

Hi,

Sorry, just a bit confused sad. On a new version, like at,

https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/861796?page=1

Can someone explain the (HW) controller version, vs. SDN? The controller only has a "single" version, right? Intertestingly enough, in the UI, I see under System Settings, the controller version listed twice - seems odd, no? And, further confusion, in that panel, it shows (example),

Current Version

1.4.7 Build 20260310 Rel.77073 (Beta)

But the update shows, "Release Notes for Omada SDN Controller V6.2.0.18". They seem somewhat disconnected, and it's hard to say if the new version is really an upgrade or not :(. Or just me?

Finally, how to get the update to really refresh? For example, the link above ... it's not showing up, seems to take a few days?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,  @arrmo

Thank you for posting on our business forum.

As the OC200 is a hardware-based controller, upgrading its firmware is equivalent to updating the Omada SDN Controller version running on the device. For this reason, the firmware version of a hardware controller corresponds to its Controller SDN version.

For example, the firmware matching the Omada SDN Controller V6.2.0.18 Release Notes you referenced is OC220(UN)_V1_1.4.10 Build 20260408, which is currently the latest official firmware for this model. You can click the release note of the firmware to check the matching controller version.

@arrmo Ya, it's one of those confusing things you just have to get used to.

For me, I get a popup in the upper right saying "New Controller software 2.24.9 Build 20260401 Rel.54513 is now available." If I close the popup, there's no where else I can find that version number again unless I close and reopen the controller page and wait for the popup.

When I go to System Settings it says "Current Version: 2.23.10 Build 20260117 Rel.60507 (Stable)", and when I click the details link in "A new version of Omada Controller is available for upgrade. Details" which is right below my Current Version, I only see "Release Notes for Omada SDN Controller V6.2.0.17".

You would think in the release notes it would mention v2.24.9 because it shows v2.23.10 right above the mention of a new version, but it doesn't.

A little quirky, but you'll get used to it.

@arrmo Agreed, but it is difficult to "map" and understand the controller version ... and it doesn't show up properly in the upgrade notification? To make it more difficult, the SDN version seems to be disconnected, and isn't showing up in the UI? Or it may just be me ;)
