Wednesday
Model: EAP772-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.13 Build 20251222 Rel. 40029

This is in my attic. Recently it started dropping out and getting isolated until I lowered its connection on the POE switch from 2.5 gb to 1 gb. It seems to be OK. I just paid far too much money to have my attic fan replaced.

***YOU ARE USING EAP CLI SYETEM***

EAP>enable

EAP#show temp *

114200
115800

116500

120100

116500

I am not sure what I am seeing there and cannot find any documentation. I am guessing that one components at running at 120, probably Celsius, maybe Fahrenheit, could be Kelvin or even Rankine. Is this too hot? How hot is too hot? Does it throttle the 2.5 gb connection when it gets too hot? Did I cook it or is it still OK? The attic fan engages at 41`C but maybe that is still insufficient.

@Dr_Marty probably not of a lot of help, but on the 670 I have to manually enter a processor number ex: 0-3 for show temp (* doesnt work), and the outputs were 56 or 57, so I assume Celsius. If the AP was at close to 120 id assume it would forceably shut off because thats way too hot.

Hi @Dr_Marty

Upon checking, this EAP can be running or storage in the below environment: Specifications - EAP772-Outdoor | Omada Tri-Band Omni BE11000 Indoor/Outdoor WiFi 7 Access Point | Omada by TP-Link

And the figures mean that the EAP's chip is running in roughly 120 celsius, which is relatively hot for the device.

Can you help check the ambient temperature and whether the installation environment is poorly ventilated?

High temperatures can indeed affect the performance of the equipment. We recommend installing the device in a well-ventilated and cool environment.

@Gabriel-TP thank you for getting back to me. It is in an attic with a fan set to operate when ambient is above 41C. There certainly is airflow through the attic. I don't have a thermometer next to the device itself. I am unable to gain access to it myself (fused spine and small crawlspace) so I would need to hire a contractor to get to it. I bought the EAP772-Outdoor units to replace EAP670 units that I cooked last summer. I think the message is that I am going to need to hire someone to run ethernet to ceiling mount points instead and buy several flying saucer APs to put on the ceiling throughout the house.
