Analog phone ports seem to have fallen out of favour. But I have a Grandstream controller sitting on top of my Omada stack and I would like it very much if there was a firmware for Grandstream that spoke to SDN.

The reason for specifying Grandstream has to do with the desirable characteristics dealing with call quality and buffering out jitter. Variable jitter is a feature of all satellite based connections. The specific engineering ability of Grandstream is to retain call quality over variations in data rate.

Sometimes I think there must be a way to make the two brands speak to each other. Obviously that is a wishlist item.

Hi  @Miro_AU

Thanks for posting here.

I have to tell you that this feedback is currently difficult to implement. T

The product architectures, design philosophies, and operating principles differ significantly across manufacturers, making it difficult to achieve unification in a short period.

Could this problem be resolved by created an Agentic API on the Grandstream side, making it possible to do very basic management services, up time verification and connection verification.

Nobody is suggesting it should be to the same standard as Omada services. Perhaps there is a way to register the Grandstream product as "available" to confirm it is operational. to create an SDN environment / shell around a third party product must be extremely difficult. But there should be a way to establish an API handshake.

Over time it may be possible to expand the number of data points handled in API mode.
