EAP225-Outdoor mesh client never reconnects after uplink AP changes channel

Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: latest

Hello all !

Setup:

  • EAP610-Outdoor (carport) as mesh uplink, currently on channel 100 (DFS)
  • EAP225-Outdoor as mesh wireless client, connected to EAP610-Outdoor
  • Omada Controller v6.2.10.17 (Docker)
  • All devices on latest firmware

Problem: The EAP610-Outdoor is on channel 100 (DFS band). Due to radar detections, I need to set the channel to 36 ( not DFS ). When I change the EAP610-Outdoor to any other channel (tested 36, 44, 64), the EAP225-Outdoor loses its mesh link and never reconnects, regardless of how long I wait.

The EAP225-Outdoor shows as Isolated/Disconnected in the controller and stays that way permanently. The only way to restore the link is physical access to reset or cable the EAP225-Outdoor or change back the channel where it was before the 610-Outdoor moves channel.

The EAP225-Outdoor correctly sees neighboring APs in the topology view (RSSI -77 and -83 dBm on indoor APs) but never attempts to reconnect to the EAP610-Outdoor on its new channel, nor to any other AP.

Question: Is there a known fix or workaround to force the EAP225-Outdoor to re-scan and reconnect after its uplink AP changes channel, without requiring physical access?

Thank you !

Have you set both access points as meshing to outdoor mode?
If one access point is set to outdoor and the other to indoor so that they cannot connect if one of the access points comes on a channel below 100.

  @MR.S

TY for this reply

Setting up both AP in outdoor mode just hide the "normal" 5G channels. My goal is to avoid DFS channels and set both AP,  i.e,  on 36 to 64 channel.

But when I try to set 610outdoor to 36(i.e.), 225outdoor never find it and never reconnect. (Now I cannot do it anymore because of outdoor mode and the lack of "noDFS" channels.

But I'm going to test this anyway and let you know the result. Imao, when 610 will detect radar, 225 will not follow it.. but I check and come back to you!

Thank you
