Omada Guard support for On-Premise Software Controller?

Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.2.0 Build 250926 Rel.52618n

I have an Omada Software Controller v6.2.10.17 running on-premises and linked to TP-Link Cloud. My system appears under "On-Premise Systems" and currently shows only "Omada Network System".

I also have a VIGI C440I camera linked to the same TP-Link ID and connected to VIGI Cloud. The camera is correctly identified by Omada as a TP-Link VIGI IPC client, but it does not appear in Omada Guard.

In comparison, a Cloud-Based System I manage shows both "Omada Network System" and "Omada Guard System".

The camera is already linked to the same TP-Link ID and VIGI Cloud account used by the Omada system.

My questions are:

  • Is Omada Guard supported with an Omada Software Controller running on-premises?

 - If yes, how can Omada Guard be enabled on an existing On-Premise System?

 - If not, is Omada Guard available only for Cloud-Based Systems?

@gustavoIAT There is a desktop VMS if you prefer to have the management all on prem, but you will need to manage it via VMS. If you are looking to manage both the camera and the controller through the cloud portal, you can create an Essentials Controller and use Omada Guard attached to that Essentials Controller, and have the existing Software Controller with cloud access enabled, so you can get to it from the same portal. But accessing the cameras in the same organization will require a cloud controller rather than a software controller.

@NeilR_M thanks for the quick response and clarification.

I followed your recommendation and created a separate Cloud-Based System with Omada Guard enabled. After unbinding the camera from VIGI Cloud Personal and adding it to the new Omada Guard organization, everything is working correctly.

The camera is now visible in Omada Guard, live view works both through the web portal and the Omada Guard mobile application, and my existing Omada Software Controller continues to operate normally as an On-Premise System. So the integration approach you suggested works as expected.

I would also like to submit a feature request for consideration.

It would be very useful if Omada Guard could be offered as an optional application for self-hosted Omada Software Controllers (Linux/Windows), similar to Omada Network.

Many advanced users already run dedicated servers, VMs, Proxmox clusters, VMware, or Hyper-V environments that provide excellent uptime, backup capabilities, and storage resources. A unified deployment would allow both Omada Network and Omada Guard to coexist within the same self-hosted controller environment, reducing management complexity and providing a more integrated experience.

In my case, I already operate a dedicated Proxmox server 24/7, and having the option to run Omada Guard directly alongside the Software Controller would be highly desirable.

Thank you again for the assistance and for confirming the current design and supported deployment model.

@gustavoIAT Glad to hear the suggested integration worked! For any feature requests or suggestions, I recommend submitting them to the Requests and Suggestions module here on the forums. If the feature receives high demand, it is more likely to be implemented.
