Hi,

I am by far an IT-specialist, but i had my go at setting up a VPN at our small-business network.
We have a fileserver (linux machine at 192.168.60.240) where we store all our data, and the idea is that remote users can connect to this data trough this VPN.
I managed to log in trough VPN and ping the fileserver, gateway and other devices on the network. Now, the fileserver has it own DNS-service so users can easily connect to it using \\hdserver.
This works just fine when you connect to our network locally.
However, when I connect trough the VPN, \\hdserver doesn't work and \\192.168.60.240 does work...
After I run a program called 'advanced IP scanner' however, it will detect hdserver and from then on \\hdserver does work...

I do believe that the VPN assigns an ip outside the subnet (?) because when i check the IPsec SA it gives 192.168.60.0/24 <-> 192.168.43.26/32 so maybe this is the reason the dns doens't work

I have used the manual on the TP-link website to set up the vpn, and rechecked a few times. All settings are correct.

Any help is really appreciated. Kind Regards. Lukas.

So to exclude influence of DNS, could you ping your server' s IP address successfully when IPsec client to lan is established?

Hi Fearthebeard,

Yes, I was able to ping all devices on the network after connecting via the IPsec client.

1. check if you could access the domain name successfully in the same Lan when VPN is established;
2, Enable NetBIOS Passthrough and retry
