access port and trunk port are not pinging each other

access port and trunk port are not pinging each other
Model : TP-Link 5 port gigabite easy smart switch
Hardware Version : TL-SG105E 3.0
Firmware Version : 1.0.0 Build 20160715 Rel.38605

MY setup :
----access(p1)<5port TP-link switch>Trunk(p5)----
the issue thatI I am dealing with at the moment is that in the above scenario I cant ping the trunk port however when I swap the ports (laptop —> trunk port and bufallo—>access port) both devices can ping each other . can any one shed a ligh on this please and explain what coutd cos the problem?
