Heya!

I wanted to connect my T2600G-28TS via the USB Console port to my server so I can remotely access it anytime if something goes wrong and fix it without having to run to my server room just for that. It was the first time I'd use the USB port at that time.

Well... After plugging the USB cord into the Switch and then into the server the Switch suddenly acts like it'd be completely dead. No Ethernet lights, no SYS light, just the power light comes on. There isn't even any console output at all on the Ethernet Console port, it just stays blank and the USB port isn't even recognized as any device on any PC.

I guess something must have shorted internally for it to die in such a way? What should I do now, contact Amazon and get a refund or TP-Link first?

Hi EpicLPer,

maybe the switch is striked by ESD?

you can also seek help from the technical support team besides Amazon.

Hm, could be it. Tho I'm not sure why it'd fry everything at once and not just the USB Serial Converter.

I met 2 switches with dead USB-port, but not the whole dead switch. If you do not have BootUtil loaded via RJ-45 console port, then go for a refund, if you can. Otherwise, service center will need time to check and will give you new switch anyway. It cannot be fixed anyway.

BootUtil? I'm completely new to any kind of managed Switch in general, especially TP-Link ones, never heard of this. But yeah, Amazon will give me a replacement unit.
