We will add mesh feature in EAP245v3 and EAP225v3, and the firmware will be released soon.

I’m on firmware version 1.4.0 Build 20180323 Rel. 32551  if that help. I know my hardware version is 1.0 in the app.

We have no plan to add mesh feature for the EAP245v1 for now. But we will collect the feedback and consult this with our PE colleagues.

That would be appreciated. When I ordered my two EAP 245 units, I didn’t even realize that there was a V3 version available, or that that would have more features that I could use. A bit frustrating.

I have to echo this.  I literally bought my 2 (!) EAP 245 versions 1.2 less than 4-6 months ago(Oct 28 and Dec 28) and you're indicating that they're going to be limited in functionality going forward.  This was what was for sale (still are) and I expected them to be current.

iit is a big problem that TP-Link most often doesn't support former hardware versions of EAPs and Pharos devices (e.g. CPE 210) once a new hardware version came out.

 

Sometimes it's even a problem to get hand on those new hardware versions at official distributors (not to speak of Amazon, where one can't be sure which hardware version one gets if ordering a TP-Link device). Curiously, with Pharos CPE510/WBS210 latest V3 firmware 2.2.x also runs fine on V1 devices. It is even possible to install CPE510 V3 firmware on CPE210 V1 (no typo in model names!), but the support site still lists firmware 2.1.6 for V1 devices, so no one knows for sure whether newer firmware is compatible with older hardware.

 

Please consider to support previous hardware versions of the same model with new functionality at least over the product life cycle or the 3-year warranty period. Our customers are not willing to upgrade their hardware installations every then and when and it is really a problem for us as an OEM to keep up with this many changes in hardware versioning.

 

It would even help if a new EAP225/245 hardware with new firmware/software functionality would get a new model name rather than just a new version, for example you could call them EAP226/246. We still have v1 hardware of those devices on stock and can't sell them anymore b/c they are not supported by current firmware versions.

 

That's my feedback you asked for.

I do have one final clarification. Is there a specific model of the EAP-225 outdoor that works in the mesh set up, or will any version work?
