EAP225 network --- Adding a EAP220

Model: EAP220
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I installed 2x EAP225 in my house a few years ago and everthing was great apart from the signal was weak in the back garden .Ive now bought a Secondhand EAP220 to put in the back room to have a better signal in the garden ( which it does )

I cant find the orginal control software on my PC so I installed Omada 3.2.1

It cant find any of the AP 225 or 220..Im guessing i may have to reset the EAP225's and start again to work with Omada but i thought it would find the EAP220 as it in factory default??

Looking on the Omada compatabilty list doesnt seem to list the EAP220

Basically i wasnt a mesh network so i can roam seamlessly with the option of the AP rebooting 4am every day

thank nick

@nyckuk,

EAP220 is EOL already. It was last supported by Omada controller v2.7. Note also that EAP220 firmware did not support mesh.

As for EAP225, reset it to factory defaults to re-adopt it in controller v3.2.x.

@R1D2

So i should sell the EAP220 and buy EAP110 / 115 or  225

@nyckuk, at this time only EAP225 and EAP225-Outdoor support mesh. EAP245 will support mesh with a new firmware, but for EAP110 and EAP115 it is technically not possible to implement mesh due to the lack of a second (5 GHz) radio.

BTW: For roaming you don't need a mesh. Roaming was standardized as early as 802.11 was created. It works with every type of APs.

@R1D2

So if i leave the orginal EAP225 as they are and setup the EAP220 with the same SSID etc we should be able to roam between all 3 automatically ??

@nyckuk, yes. Same ESSID and same encryption mode forms an Extended Service Set (ESS) out of Basic Service Sets (BSS, a single AP):
