Model: TL-SG108E
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20181120 Rel.40749

Since a couple of weeks ago I am starting to encounter a really strange issue with a few of my TL-SG108E switches.

My network conistis of a Deco M9 system, wired to a TP-Link T1500G-8T (Hardware V2, Firmware 2.0.0 Build 20180416 Rel.43128(s)

On the T1500 and on the Deco's there are also some SG108E switches. One of these switches started to cause connectivity issues last week, and showed a steady Blinking (not flashing!) Green AND Amber light. Where as normaly only the green light flashes to indicate 1000Gb (Uplink) traffic.

After a physical power off and on, the switch started to behave itself again, but just now another of one of these switches did exactly the same, a steady Blinking (not flashing!) Green AND Amber light. Also a power off and on seemed to resolve the issue for a moment, but as we speak it's failing agian..

The only thing in common with both the SG108E is that they are on the T1500G and not behind the 2nd port of a Deco.

Any help would be highly appreciated, as I cannot find any info on that particular Led state..

Hi, Yes, I Might!

it seemed to have been caused by my Sonos Sound system. When they automatially updated themselves it started to happen, and looked like it had  somthing to do with spanning three issues. Since al speakers are connected by wire and wireless it created a lot of issues. When I turned all my sonos devices off and back on again it seemded to have sorted itself out. Have not seen it anymore after that.

Hope it helps

@Martin010 my 5 port smart switch started doing this and I found this post.

After some troubleshooting, moving of cables and playing with settings I discovered the issue. It has absolutely nothing to do with Sonos as I don't own one.

The blinking orange and green LEDS indicate that A) you have loop detection turned on and B) you have a loop (two different paths to the same device which is not allowed on a local network).

Reconfigure your network to remove the loop or turn off loop detection.

Hi @xjonx, Thanks for the info. It would match my posts, as I mentioned some Sonos devices are both wired and wifi connected, and apparently during an update this caused the issue. I have not seen it anymore since.. It would be nice however if TP-Link would include this in their manual, would have made troubleshooting a lot easier.

@Martin010

I had the same problem with my TP-Link M9 Pluses (3 nodes) set up with Ethernet cat6 back haul.  My TL-SG116E v1.28 switch showed the same behavior.   In my situation, one of my M9 nodes connected both by Ethernet and the 2nd 5Ghz WiFi signal.  Only one node exhibited this behavior.   I noticed the status in the tp-link cloud app did not display Ethernet in the tp-link cloud app, it showed 2.4/5_1/5_2Ghz which should be incorrect.   I used the Network Optimization feature in the app and that seemed to kick the M9 node off of Wifi back haul and into Ethernet back haul.  Now my TP-SG116E ports show only green lights.
