Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.0.0

Hey!

I have quiet a strange problem. I have the following network setup and omada settings:

I have 3 vlans with its own ssid:

  • main LAN
  • IoT
  • Guest

However someone of my IoT devices stops working and HomeKit reports "not responding" state. What is the most strange from this story is that these devices keep connected to the network...

I have a MikroTik router which is responsible for L3 routing and I allow every Apple HomeKit related port, so that cannot be an issue.

Take for example this "smart" outlet, it is currently connected, but I cannot switch it on or off, but it is on my IoT network. If I remove the outlet from the socket and plug it back, after a couple of seconds it start working like nothing happened.

Any help is appreciated!

@peterrakolcza

I suggest you to turn off band steering

Do you think that causes my issue? My IoT wlan is only 2.4Ghz, so I would be surprised if that would make any difference.

Why? I think its a great feature, why should I seperate the the 2 bands?

It's a feature that may not work properly with devices. It's much easier to create separate SSID's for your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network and connect the device to the appropriate network, rather than let the host decide.

Subsequently I also disable Dual Band 11k Report.

Its a great advice, will definitely try that out. However it wont solve my problem as my IoT network is restricted to the 2.4Ghz band.

@peterrakolcza I have similar issues and have been working with @jonas at TPlink for months on issues with my IOT. I, like you have them on their own 2.4 network and experience many interference issues when using 2.4 ghz cams like Wyze with my IOT device (EAP smart switches, etc). I suggest you open a ticket and reference my issue TKID20110052.

I will definitely try that. Have any updates or solutions worked for you?

@peterrakolcza I've sent them numerous wireshark captures, enumerated the types of devices on my network, and did a screen sharing session with @jonas to review my config. They havent been able to reproduce in their lab - however I have a bunch of devices they can't likely acquire. They originally said devices were trying to roam but I have this SSID unique to one EAP (using SSID override), so it shouldn't be using any of the features as someone above mentioned "you should turn off x".

Here is what I have connected to this wifi network:

1 x Wyze v2 camera

1 x ESP8266 Wemos D1 Mini Arduino board measuring temperature of my freezer

1 x Logitech Harmony Hub

Across all wifi networks:

15 x ESP8266/Tasmota wireless plugs outlets

2 x Harmony Wireless Controller Hubs

3 x ESP8266 Wemos D1 Mini Arduino Boards

1 x EzViz 5ghz wifi doorbell

2 x YiHome wifi cameras

3 x alexa echo speaker devices

2 x wireless printers - HL-2270DW, MFC-J435W

1 x NeoSmart Wireless Shade controller

4 x raspberry pi devices (4, 3b, 2b)

1 x Wyze vacuum

1 x Ecovacs Deboot vacuum

1 x JuiceBox Pro 40 EV charger

8 x Apple devices (iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch)

Have any of you checked if Airtime Fairness is on? is it on so deactivate this feature. it creates a lot of problems with IoT devices.

It can be disabled on Site, Beacon Control.

I had the same problem with my IoT devices but the problem disappeared when I turned off this feature.
