Hardware Version: V3

Firmware Version: 2.5.0 Build 20190404 Rel. 57144(5553)

Moved in to a home with a pre-existing EAP225 (no controller software from what I understand) and getting 'weak security' messages. I don't see other modern options under the dropdown like WPA3. FAQ's mention choosing a different option but suspect my firmware is pretty old.

Can someone confirm that the latest firmware on this page is what I'm looking for. I see this latest firmware EAP225(US)_V3_5.0.7 Build 20211026. Being extra careful dealing with firmware and with the red caution text I'm being cautious.

Hey and Welcome

Yes that is a very old firmware you are running, you should update to 5.0.7 that you have included in your link. In relation to the RED warning, its only for controller users to warn them not to update unless they had done the controller first. As you are not using a controller, just ignore it!

Download the update you posted and update the device.

In answer to your question about "weak security". Guessing this is an Apple device? WPA2 with AES is your best choice here, that should remove the warning for you (do the update first).

WPA3 wont be an option as its only for WiFi 6 devices, this AP (EAP225) is a WiFi 5 device. I have Apple devices on the same AP as you with the latest firmware and they don't display any warnings.

Hi @tomn68

Your firmware is not the newest one and we suggest to upgrade it. Please note, to upgrade the EAP we recommend to use Ethernet connection.

The 'weak security' messages are coming from WPA-PSK. So if you choose WPA2-PSK it will disappear.

WPA3 is not supported by this model.

Thanks for the tip about using ethernet. Good call!

im going to be changing the password and I'm trying to track down any WiFi devices on the network that will need to be updated. I can use Fing to see all the devices in the network but that app I don't believe shows what's connected directly to the router via Ethernet vs WiFi. Any idea the best approach here? Worried about thermostats, etc.
