Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.0

Hi All,

I have recently purchased ER605 and wanted to create Open VPN so that I can access my home network.

The setup at my home is  2 iSP Router --> ER605 --> Asus AC3200 --> Clients

I am trying to set up Open VPN on ER605 and below is the configuration.

Now when I try to connect via the OVPN profile outside the network it doesn't connect.

Here is the config

With the above config I get remote 192.168.1.54 1194 in the VPN config file.

ER605 gateway/dns 192.168.1.1

What am I missing here.

The VPN connects when on local but doesn't connect when I am on diff network.

Any suggestion welcome.

Based on your network topology, here is double NAT in your network, if you wanna set ER605 as VPN server, you need to open the ER605's WAN IP and Open VPN ports which is needed to use on the front-end devices(ISP routers).

@Virgo

Can you please explain me in detail How to open the Wan IP and Open VPN ports with the said ips in ER605

To make it easy my iSP ip is :-10.192.90.113(example)

Since I get. dynamic ip and not static ip from my iSP for that I got it covered via noip Dynamic DNS and its getting resolved to my ip.

So to sum up-

One of iSP ip :- 10.192.90.113(example)

ER605 ip :-192.168.1.54 (from isp)

Gateway for ER605 :-192.168.1.1

In the mean time I tried even changing the remote in Open VPN file to my noip address but no success

Best guess is VPN server and my ISP is not able to resolve the dns in open server. Apologies for asking in greater details

If I understand correctly, your current topology is:

ISP Routers----ER605(OpenVPN server), and here is a client which is out of ISP routers need to connect to VPN Server.

This is what I call a double NAT. Your VPN client wants to connect to the ER605 server, but because the ER605's IP address is behind the ISP router, the VPN client cannot see it and is blocked by the ISP router's NAT.

This would require an open port entry on top of the ISP router. The open port feature is the same principle as my router ER7206 for example (Virtual Servers).
