Model: TL-SG3428XMP
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.0

I have a problem with high noise, but I have found that it only occurs with the v2.0 model.

I own two v1.0 models and they do not have the noise problem.

switch model v1.0:

switch model: TL-SG3428XMP v1.0 SN: 2224008000768 Firmware: 1.0.3 Build 20210409 Rel.52950

switch model: TL-SG3428XMP v1.0 SN: 2224008000767 Firmware: 1.0.3 Build 20210409 Rel.52950

When switched on, the built-in fans run at full speed, but only until the system boots up and the sys light starts flashing. From that point on, the speed is reduced and the operation is refined.

switch model v2.0:

switch model: TL-SG3428XMP v2.0 SN: 2226338000036 Firmware: 2.0.0 Build 20220301 Rel.54959

switch model: TL-SG3428XMP v2.0 SN: 2226338000109 Firmware: 2.0.0 Build 20220301 Rel.54959

These both behave differently. Even when they boot up the fans are still running full blast. That's without any load. Turning off PoE on all ports doesn't help.

Noise meter recording with 60 sec measurement for each model.

Dear  @AdamCzeko

Since the power module is no longer in stock, V2 has switched to another power module with a higher capacity.

However, to ensure that the temperature is within the normal range, a stronger fan is required to dissipate heat.

I can confirm that the noise of V2 models is normally higher than V1 models, and it won't influence the performance or warranty of the switch.

  @AdamCzeko

Hello,

Your response, though reasonable is lacking at alternative. Yes we can go to another switch vendor, however we have chosen TP-Link to provide networking solution to our company and customers. We need a solution for the switch noise. Not all our deployments have a dedicated network room with d3dicated climate control. Some customers are smaller, like chain restaurants, small business who make up thousands of customers who depend on your hardware. We need a solution for this fan noise. One options you can consider is to produce a switch that has an external power supply. For example we recently returned an 8 port switch (SG3210XHP-M2) for that very reason and purchase a non managed 2.5gb switch with out POE and the noise went away. The downside? No management and we had to add a POE injector. It was worth the effort as the noise and complaints disappeared. So what gives TP-Link? Some hardware needs to sit in an open area in range of employees and customers and it needs to be fast and quiet. We need to centrally manage multiple locations and needs OMADA. So please can you so kindly go back to development and  during your SCRUM meeting tell them to solve this problem with a line of managed switches without POE, passively cooled but still able to handle 2.5gb speeds to match your line of EAP access points that handle high traffic. I know passive cooling is possible for many situations as we deal with a vendor who produces network hardware capable of 80gbps throughput with quad core intel processors that are passively cold. Granted they case is metal, well vented and has a large radiator as part of the case but it is tastefully designed and looks very elegant. At the moment your switches are in the 50+ db range which can be heard across a large basketball court. You need to bring that down to low 20's to low 30's to be a viable option. Is this a reasonable enhancement request?
