Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5.5.7

I believe I may have to replace my existing OC200 (See that discussion here.)

 

Anyway, my current OC200 is a V1.  If I have to replace it, and I get the current V3 version, will I be able to use a backup from my current V1 to apply all of its settings to the new V3?  In other words, does the backup contain just the OC200's settings or does it include the firmware too - which would be the V1 version and not compatible with the new V3 OC200.

The backup is only the configuration of the OC200, it wont contain the firmware.

 

You need to ensure the new OC200 is on the same firmware (or close too anyways) as your backup.  However this usually works fine :)

 

The only real difference is the hardware inside, with the ongoing chip shortage TP Link appears to have had to change the internal chipset to accommodate supply and this increments the version numbers, however, they are fundamentally the same device overall

That will make my transition to a replacement OC200 if my current OC200 ends up being my issue.
