Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.1

Hi TP-Link Community

I bought a new ER605 to replace an TL-R600VPN on my network. I use an L2TP VPN and the ER605 (Client) connect successfully to my ER6020 (Server).
But at the ER605 LAN all endpoints with Win10 64b SO can't open an application that uses a PostgreSQL database at the server side. If the endpoint uses Win7 32b SO the application works without problem.
When the client router is the TL-R600 VPN, both endpoints (with Win10/64b and Win7/32b) can open the PostgreSQL application. See the network diagram below:

About the VPN configuration:
> L2TP with Pre-Shared Key
> IPSEC Encription enabled
> Network mode: LAN to LAN

> Working mode (Client side) : Route

Some tests that I already did at ER-605 LAN side :
> Windows 7 64b have the same behavior of Win10 64b
> I have a small application that uses a Microsoft SQL Server (the MSSQL server is in ER620 LAN as the PostgreSQL server). The application work fine with any S.O.
> The application PGAdmin does not work as well. It can connect to the database but not show the list of tables (see picture below)

I have no clue why it's happening.
Can someone help me ? Sorry for my english.

Marcelo

Hi, Some additional information.

It seems that the problem is related to package loss over the VPN.
In the capture below the Database is at 192.168.0.32 (TL-ER6020 LAN) and the Win10 64b endpoint is 192.168.29.100 (ER605 LAN).
As you can see in the picture, there is a lot of TCP retransmission request....

Any idea how can I fix this problem?
Please note, this happens only with ER605 routers (client). With TL-R600 VPN routers, I see no incidence of retransmission request.

Regards,

Marcelo

Hi

I´m still with the Database connection problem.
As I mention in the last post, for some reason, the PGSQL TCP packages are lost after some transmissions. The connection and VPN still connected, and I did some file transfers with no problem. See screen capture below, 192.168.18.100 is the client at ER 605 LAN, and the 192.168.0.37 is the PostgreSQL server at TP-ER6020 LAN.

> Server Side (PGSQL - ER 6020 LAN)

> Client side (ER 605 LAN)

An additional information:
I have an ER-605 V1 with the firmware 1.2.0 that works perfect in my network. Could it be a Hardware issue?
I load the ER-605V1 configuration backup to the ER-605 V2 and the behavior was the same, the PGAdmin hangs. For me, it's clear that the ER-605V2 firmware have some bug... Hey TP-Link support, are you reading this??

Can someone help me in this issue? Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Marcelo

  Dear @Hank21,

In order to help out the TP-Link support team to reproduce the problem, I did a test using an ER-605 V1 as server connected to ER-605 V2 as client as shown in the picture below:

The end point at server side LAN (192.168.0.101) is connected trough ER-605 VPN to the end point at client LAN side (192.168.29.101) using an VNC application.
Both routers are direct connected through its WAN ports as shown.
The server side endpoint is a Win7 64b machine running UltraVNC viewer. The client side endpoint is a Linux 64b machine running x11vnc server.
The VNC connection starts but in few seconds the screen becomes unsynchronized and after some minutes the VNC connection closes. Important to say that the VPN connection still up all the time.

The ER-605 V1 (server) is running the Firmware version 1.2.0 Build 20220114

The ER-605 V2 (client) is running the Firmware version 2.0.1 Build 20220223

Attached the routers' configuration. I hope it helps.

Regards,

Marcelo

Hi Everyone.

Thanks to TP-Link support help, a new firmware will be released earlier 2023 to solve this issue.

Regards

Marcelo
