TL-SG3428 switch ramping to 90% CPU for fixed periods
Hi Everyone,
Recently, with no real changes to my network in terms of connected devices, my TL-SG3428 switch has started to flap to 90% CPU for 5-10 mins at a time, sometimes longer. During these periods, theres a disconnect of clients and then a reconnection later but for that period of time the internet is essentially down for all connected clients. It comes back up, for a while, then rinse and repeat again.
There was a recent firmware update for this particular switch, which I did apply, but have since reverted to the prior firmware version in an attempt to see if it mitigated this issue - it did not, so rules out the firmware update as the cause.
I'm sourcing a separate 24 port unmanaged switch (TL-SG1024D) to replace the SG3428 in the interim to see if that resolves the issue but keen to hear if anyone else has had similar issues or any suggestions around what could be the cause.
As far as load on the switch, it all looks to be within reasonable expectations, theres no above average usage so not being stressed in that regard, so no idea how or why the ramp to 90% CPU.
Edit: I've now replaced the switch with the SG1024D and everything has been working as expected since (roughly an hour) with no issues. Will continue to monitor.
