Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello community,

I would also like to install an OmadaSDN for a friend.

I think the ER605 is enough for him but if everything is already made new, the question is whether the ER7206 might have an advantage?

He uses fiber optic internet, so he could directly use the SFP port of the ER7206.

Question would be now:
The ER7206 compared to the ER605 more of everything, more RAM, more sessions, more VPN Tunnels, etc, etc,....
Think for private use, however, this is not very important?

But can the ER7206 do anything what the ER605 can't do at all?
Is the ER7206 perhaps more future-proof,...?

Would be grateful for an info :)
THNAKS :)

8 ports and PoE is not required in the existing location where the router is placed and an OC200 is also already available. So I don't think an ER7212PC is even more too much?

Okay, so first list what is already bought, thought there is nothing. Also list the requirements. Main advantage of ER605 is USB-LTE-Backup imho.

Cheers!

Does the ER7206 not have a backup function?

The following is currently available:
1 OC200
1 SG3428
2 EAP245
1 EAP610
All is running standalone.
But now everything should be integrated in an OmadaSDN.
Therefore it would first need an additional router and also an EAP610 should be added.
Then 4 VLAN should be used and certain permissions and configurations are planned, but that doesn't work without a TP-Link router :)

@lukass2000 I have been using the 7206 at two locations for a year now, and they have been very stable and fast.  There have been a lot of issues with the 605 that firmware just is not quite fixing but It may be just the older v1.  The 605v2 has a USB port for cell phone modem connection (the "backup" mentioned in the other post) and can directly setup the modem, that the 7206 doesn't.  TPLink has been adding features to the routers on Omada via firmware, and this will definitely need more processor and memory, which is one of the reasons I chose the 7206, along with having faster VPN between the two location.

Right now, shy away from the 7212PC.  Real world use is not up to the way it is being advertised, and TPLink needs to make so changes to Omada or the router to get it to the advertising claims.

On the german TP-Link Website i have seen ER7206 is End of Live?

New Model ist the ER7206???

Old Modell:
https://www.tp-link.com/de/business-networking/omada-sdn-router/tl-er7206/

New Modell:
https://www.tp-link.com/de/business-networking/omada-sdn-router/er7206/

How can I distinguish if I buy an ER7206, if it is this the new or old model?

Change R605 to ER7206
2022-12-29 09:17:14

I've now bought an ER7206 :)

What do I have to do now?

I can simply unplug the R605 and plug in the ER7206?
Does the controller notice this and adjust the settings?

Thanks :)
