Model: EAP610-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.6 Build 20220415 Rel. 63538

We have multiple EAP225 that run our application without issue. when we run the same application through any EAP610, our connected client devices stop receiving UDP broadcast at approximately 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

The exact same WLAN group is being used as with the EAP225.

A disconnection and reconnection/ recycling of adapter re-establishes the UDP only to fail again after the same timeframe.

we are using OC200 controllers with latest firmware.

I've also tried full 802.11ax config with appropriate WLAN adaptor's but no improvement.

My suspicions point to the chipset and OFDMA somehow interfering but it would be nice to understand the issue, even if it cannot be overcome.

  @DB4774

Can you describe your network layout? Where is the EAP in the network?

How did you test it? Can you share a screenshot to show the issue?

Which software did you use to test?

  @Virgo

It isn't related to AP location as it also happens when bench testing, but......

network layout

Vigor 2860n router with full internet access

Netgear un-manged poe+ switch

OC200 hardware controller

EAP 225 indoor/outdoor AP plugged directly into switch

EAP 610 Outdoor AP plugged directly into switch

                        " Both AP's tested using the same Group settings (identical SSID's and security)"

SSID's set to broadcast at 20Mhz (single channel) but have tested at all bandwidths.

HP elite book running bespoke (server) program "OCS" connedted directly to switch.

windows 10 laptop connected wirelessly as "Client"

The OCS pulls certain information (Betting prices) from an internet enpoint as well as collecting information from all connected Clients regarding their status and local prices. It collates this information and rebroadcasts the information to every connected client using UDP.

this works perfectly on the EAP 225 but not on the EAP610, when using the 610 for more than 4min 20 seconds the UDP traffic is no longer received by the connected clients. This is the same when using "Watchgaurd or Rukus" wifi6 capable access points.

The client laptops can still ping the OCS locally, remain connected peer to peer and retain internet access ,so i can rule out LAN config. this issue seems to be strictly WiFi6 capable (not enabled) equipment.

Regards

Dave

  @DB4774 Can we unpack the 'broadcast' comment a little more?  If I understand correctly, you aren't establishing point-point connections with each endpoint, but are multicasting?  If so, I think you need to look at how each AP handles multicast traffic.  It really sounds like a software timer, have you tried sniffing (Wireshark) the POE switch ports and via Wifi on the laptops to see where the UDP traffic is and isn't?
