Model: EAP653   SG2008P   TL-SG3428X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4

Hi,

First time posting so excuse me if it is not the correct place to ask this question. I have a printer wired and assigned to a VLAN (50) and can print from other wired devices on that VLAN. The topology looks like following:

TL-SG3428X --> TL-SG2008P --> EAP653 --> wireless client (10.0.50.15)

\--> Wired printer (10.0.50.3 Static IP)

I defined the following LAN:

NAME PURPOSE SUBNET PORTAL PORTAL NAME ACCESS CONTROL RULE RATE LIMIT VLAN ACTION

GuestNetwork

VLAN

99

IoT

VLAN

50

LAN

Interface

192.168.0.1/24

1

Main

VLAN

10

Work

VLAN

20

On the TL-SG3428X I assigned profile IoT to the port of the printer and enabled the ALL and IoT VLAN interface. The port to the TL-SG2008P has Profile ALL. on the TL-SG2008P, all ports have profile ALL. and Vlan interfaces ALL and IoT are enabled. On the EAP653, I added different SSID, of which two I added to VLAN 50. The clients are connected to JR.

SSID NAME

SECURITY

BAND

GUEST NETWORK

PORTAL

PORTAL NAME

ACCESS CONTROL RULE

RATE LIMIT

VLAN

Guest WPA-Personal 2.4 GHz YES       YES 99
JRIoT WPA-Personal 2.4 GHz
5 GHz
          50
JRWork WPA-Personal 2.4 GHz
5 GHz
6 GHz
          20
JR WPA-Personal 2.4 GHz
5 GHz
6 GHz
          50

The profile for ALL has as a native Network LAN and tagged networks IoT, as unatgged network LAN. the IoT profile has Native network IoT, not tagged Networks and untagged Network IoT.

I can see and ping the printer on most wireless devices, but not add it or print. (Bonjour and airprint see the printer but I can not add it to my printers).

Thanks in advance

EDIT: As a side note, If I remove the VLAN tag from the SSID and change the profile for the printer port to ALL, I can print from wireless devices without problems.

 Hi @9hK6naC

Please check your switch and EAP are on newest firmware, and have mDNS enabled on the controller;

Since you can ping and detect the printer through the VLAN, it should be related to your network settings. Do you have any other suggestions from the printer's support?

Is there any access control rules you set up?

  @Hank21 ,

The OC200 is on controller version 5.7.6, the EAP is on

Firmware Version:

1.0.4 Build 20220921 Rel. 73428

I added the following mDNS rule:

NAME

DEVICE TYPE

SERVICE

SERVICE NETWORK

CLIENT NETWORK

test AP Printers 50 50

Where printers is set up as

Printers _ipp._tcp.local, _pdl-datastream._tcp.local, _printer._tcp.local, _http._tcp.local, _http_alt._tcp.local, _ipp-tls._tcp.local, _fax-ipp._tcp.local, _riousbprint._tcp.local, _ica-networking._tcp.local, _ica-networking2._tcp.local, _ptp._tcp.local, _canon-bjnp1._tcp.local, _ipps._tcp.local

The error messqge I get when trying to add my printer is:

Unable to connect to ‘XXXXX._ipps._tcp.local.’ due to an error.

" Do you have any other suggestions from the printer's support?", not really, no. I do not have any ACL for the EAP or switches.

EDIT: I checked with wireshark and see mDNS which seem to be ok. The problems seem t be related to TCP messages.

Re:[SOLVED] Wireless devices can not print to wired printer

I have a very similar setup to the OP and the same issue.

In my case I have 3 x EAP655-Wall and a TL-SG2016P switch controlled by OC200 controller. The router is currently non-TP-Link until the local DNS resolution is sorted, then I will put in an ER605.

Anyway as the OP I have a VLAN 10 setup as my main network and my printer and the clients (mostly MacOS) are in the same VLAN.

I can add printers, print and scan as long as the clients are connected via LAN. My WLAN clients can see the printers via Bonjour/mDNS but I am not able to add printers, print or scan. It tries for a while and then times out with the error that the device is not contactable.

I believe this is the same issue as described in this threat.

Is this fix also implemented in BETA software for EAP655-Wall and is it possible to get this BETA software somewhere?

@Hank21, @Fae, as I am facing the same issue is it possible to get BETA version of the firmware that resolve this issue?

Alternative is there a date in the near future when this will be rolled into a general firmware update?

It looks like this issue would affect most customers with an EAP653 and a printer which is not uncommon.

Hello @aschmid,

The solution has been included in the Beta firmware 1.0.3, which was released several days ago.
EAP655-Wall(EU&US)_v1_1.0.3_Build 20230329 (Beta)

  @Hank21 thank you!

Due to an issue with the VLAN pass through I am currently running: 1.0.0 Build 20230330 Rel. 14305 (https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/605508).

Does this EAP655-Wall(EU&US)_v1_1.0.3_Build 20230329 (Beta) build also include the above issue fix?

If not, I have a problem as I need to VLAN fix for my Wireless setup to work at all.
