ER7206 _V1_1.3.0 Build 20230322 - WAN keeps going down, internet rarely works. Managed by OC200
ER7206 v1.6 managed by:
OC200 Firmware 2.9.3 Build 20230328 Rel.52390
Previous Firmware: ER7206(UN)_V1.6_1.2.3 Build 20221104
New Firmware (Problem): ER7206(UN)_V1.6_1.3.0 Build 20230322
The Previous firmware works kind of ok. It has never had 100% uptime but it's decent. I was hoping an upgrade would improve the situation. When I upgrade to 1.3.0 the WAN goes down about every 5 or 10 minutes. The log is just filled with 'WAN has gone down' messages. The internet connection only works for maybe 60 seconds before going down and then later coming back up for a very short time. To troubleshoot I reset the router, forgot it, re-adopted it. Nothing fixed the problem.
I am amazed that some people apparently have no problems with this device. I regret buying it over the ER605 at least once a week.
I have downgraded to 1.2.3 in order to have a stable WAN connection again.

Hello @tik6,
May I know the specific WAN Connection Type you are using? PPPOE? Dynamic?
What is the WAN IP address when the router goes down? Is it 0.0.0.0? Can it be fixed by rebooting the ER7206?
It is suggestion that you can set the Primary/Secondary DNS manually for tesing.

WAN connection type is Dynamic.
When the WAN goes down the entire WAN section of the device settings was correct with my proper external IP address and status 'Online'
I tried setting the DNS to auto as well as manual (manual is normal for me).
Rebooting the router does not fix the problem, I tried at least 5 times and spent at least 2 hours troubleshooting this problem. I can access the internet intermittently for maybe a minute max before it dies again.

Hi @tik6,
Thanks for your response.
Can you reproduce this issue stably?
May I know whether the PC is working fine if you connect the PC to the modem directly with the same cable when the WAN down issue occurs?

I put the 1.3.0 firmware back on and yes the problem repeated. Yes, my internet connection works just fine and I am using it right now on the previous firmware.
Has nobody else reported this issue? Is the 7206 router widely used at all?

@tik6 i don't have disconnect issues but with 1.30 firmware the router does not report when a wan link goes down. I had an issue last night with my wireless provider where our second WISP went down. I logged in and according to the main page both links were up. After a few minutes traffic started to flow to the first wan and the only way I knew my second wan was down is that in the traffic screen there were no stats it went blank. I also verified it was down by going into diagnostics and forcing a ping. There was no wan down in the logs and the router did eventually fail over.
Hope this helps.
