Model: EAP660 HD
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: EAP660HD(US)_V1_1.1.1 Build 20220118

I bought a refurbished Unit on Amazon. Setup as standalone since I am on a Mac (Controller Software that runs on Windows and Linux)! When I went to update the firmware I see it says HW version is 1.0 but sticker on under belly of monster is 1.60. Am I running the latest and faster HW? I read in another post TP-LINK routers have a numbering system where the digit after the decimal designates country of Mfg and .6=Vietnam. Not sure if 0 is US. Can anyone comment on functionality and speed between the HW versions? is there a difference between 1.0 and 1.60 other than where it was manufactured? I downloaded FW for 1.6 and the darn thing updated to the latest FW for 1.0: EAP660HD(US)_V1_1.1.1 Build 20220118.

So I am running the latest firmware for 1.0 and blazing fast speed: 1 gig almost, from the 130 mbps I was getting from my IP's router! I am happy but I want to be happier if I have the latest unit!

Thanks.

Hey

Yes you sorta answered your own question, the hardware version is made up of 2 codes, namely the HARDWARE_VERSION followed by the FACTORY_ID

I cant remember exactly what the FACTORY_IDs are..   but they are .0   .6    and   .8    as you mentioned fairly sure .6 is Vietnam, that does ring a bell.

The first number is just the hardware ID

Therefore products with  1.0   1.6  and 1.8 are all physically and software-wise the same, just made in different locations.    Firmwares are generic, so usually applies for all 1.x devices (as they are identical)

When v2 comes out it will likely be 2.0   2.6   and 2.8  as expected, again one firmware for them all
