Hi Team, @Fae ,

Could you please tell - do you have in your roadmap a plan to add LAG to ER8411? And can this model support the LAG feature at all?

Thank you!

So, Colleagues,

I'm tired of waiting for updates. I'm sure this is not a priority for the developers. Their primary focus is Omada Pro and new devices. At least we must be grateful for some stability of the existing FW versions.

My solution: ER8411 with two 1Gbit WANs <=> DAC TL-SM5220-1M (10Gbit SFP+)  <=> TL-SG3210XHP-M2 (10Gbit SFP+)  <=> 2 LANs LAG 2 x 1Gbit to the next switches...

Good luck to all of us.

Hi @Alex_UTS and all,

LAG for ER8411 is not considered this year(2024). Dev has looked into this feature now and has started market research.

The schedule is full at this point. We have ruled out it at this moment.

Still in the evaluation phase. I will collect your described use scenario for the dev to mark the priority this week. (This is not a guarantee to any degree either.) For others who did not describe the usage, I cannot write your single line in the report as it does not make any sense in the scenario description.

Hi @Alex_UTS

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Can you please point out your application scenario?

So far we have not considered this. Would appreciate it if you could provide some insights.

For the current LAG on our switch, it mainly serves as a link backup. Or mult For the sessions between the switch and the devices, we don't support layer 4 LAG which can add up the speed, e.g. 1G LAN + 1G LAn, computer with a 2.5Gbps NIC, it gets 2Gbps speed. Now the LAG we have is that your computer with 1Gbps. And if you have another computer, it could run another 1Gbps.

What kind of LAG do you expect?

LAN LAG for ER707-M2. ER707-M2 has 2.5GB WAN port. Switches only have 1GB ports. Was thinking I would be able to use the LAG feature to feed switches with 2GB link to distribute to multiple other switches in the network.

@BrnM Came here to say exactly this!

I have a TL-SG2428P as my core switch.  I just upgraded my router from a Protectli Vault running pfSense, which had 4 1Gb lan ports on it, to an ER8411, so that I could take advantage of my multi-gig ISP connection.  Unfortunately, I am not to a point where I can upgrade my switch as the 10G equivalent has a pretty hefty price tag.  In my old setup, I LAGged the 4 LAN ports together to 4 LAGged ports on my switch and was able to increase the throughput beyond the 1Gb limit of the individual ports.  My original plan was to LAG all of the LAN ports on the router together to help alleviate the 1Gb bottleneck of a single connection from the switch to the router.  Because I can't LAG LAN ports on the ER8411, I cant do that.  This seems like it would be a reasonably common use case.  Is there a better/different way that I can achieve this?

 Hi @Clive_A

The idea is absolutely clear - to increase the total bandwidth of the Network Uplink. @Fae knows, that I have one site with the Fortigate 60F router with 2 WAN x1GB and I use them with SD-WAN config for multi VLAN with two LAGs to different sites core switches. Now I have a new project where I need to decide or to use ER8411 or again 60F. Based on your response the choice is clear. Thank you.

  @fade2blk9

There is only one, the most reliable, stable, and tested for the last few years by myself solution is to use Fortigate as a core router. There are no firmware issues, it has stable compatibility with TP-Link, amazing SD-WAN, crazy powerful IPS/IDS, perfect fast and stable VPN, peace of mind with DHCP servers and VLANs, and more than everything you need. I’m sad to say, but there is a gap of 3-5 years between the development of routers and firmware features from TP-Link and this company. And sure it is a clear difference in the customer types and market levels. The price is different also, but reflects the features and stability. For more details PM me.

this is essential for me too and please add on ER707-M2 too where we have a 2.5Gb WAN and using lag we may distribute the full bandwith to the switch and really support the 2.5Gb WAN connection.

ER707-M2 needs this feature for ISP speeds above 1gb. I purchased this router thinking the feature would already be there since the device had a 2.5 WAN. Was really disappointed to see it was not there on delivery.
