I wanted to use the PoE-output of my EAP615-Wall and was surprised by the fact, that it didn't work. The product page mentions, that PoE-passthrough is available, if the AP is connected to a PoE 802.3af/802.3at capable switch. I have this switch, which is 802.3af/802.3at compatible: https://www.tp-link.com/business-networking/unmanaged-switch/tl-sg1008p/

 

Is there any setting I forgot? I didn't see anything related to PoE-passthrough. If I connect my PoE device directly to the network-cable where the AP is normally plugged in, my device boots. But as soon as I daisy-chain it after the AP, nothing happens at all.

Click on the radio in the device list within the omada controller.

goto config>advance> and its below.

If you're using the controller/standalone mode, you have to enable the POE passthrough in the controller or GUI.  

 

Be careful on what youre powering... It pulls 11watts with POE off... Do the math to make sure the daisy chained device doesnt pull more then 14-15 watts.  Total cant go past 25 watts.

Also - if the device pulls too much power... the AP and daisy chain device will go into a boot loop.

  @KimcheeGUN ah, that makes sense. I didn't see the setting in the Omada controller, but maybe I can see them, when I go to the ip address of the AP?

 

I can't imagine that the device I'm connecting draws more than 1 or 2 watts, so that shouldn't be the problem. (I didn't measure it though)
