Hi @MartinDi
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
First, this was answered by me several times. The research you did is not fully thorough.
Second, it is not an issue with the router. PPPoE is the protocol we obey. It displays this error because your ISP is not responding to PADI and after the seconds count, the router records this in the log system and tells you there is an issue with your PPPoE interaction.
There is no solution from us.
Please kindly read this and learn about PPPoE. Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet
Interaction Process Diagram
- The client broadcasts a PADI packet at the start.
- If a server is available, it responds with a PADO packet.
- The client selects a server and sends a PADR packet.
- The server confirms the session with a PADS packet.
- Data starts being exchanged through the PPP session.
- Either party can send a PADT packet to terminate the session.
Reasons for PADI Timeout:
- A PADI timeout typically occurs in the first step of interaction, where after the client sends out a PADI request, it might not receive any PADO response from servers due to several reasons:
- Network Issues: Connection problems between the client and server, such as line interruptions or signal degradation, might lead to the loss of PADI packets.
- Server Unavailability: The target PPPoE server is overloaded, crashed, or undergoing maintenance, unable to respond to PADI packets.
- Configuration Errors: Misconfigurations of the client or networking devices (like routers, DSLAMs, etc.) may prevent PADI packets from correctly reaching the server.
- Physical Connection Problems: There could be issues with the physical connection between the client and the network, such as damaged Ethernet cables or mismatched interfaces.
