I have a Cloud Admin account and Local Admin account but I can't find the menus where I can backup the config or remove the Master Admin account. Actually, looks like the Master Admin can't be removed.

 

Seems like there should be some way to change ownership so that we can change the Master Administrator account to ours. Unfortunately my Googling efforts have me going in circles.

 

I thought maybe I could backup the config and reset the controller and then put our account as the Master Admin and then restore the config but it seems I am missing the menus for making a backup. Maybe that is because I'm not a Master Admin? While logged in to my Local Account I did find a Manage Cloud Access link but when I click it it just says No Permission.

 

By logging in to my cloud account I can see the controller and I can go to Config, and I see a menu that says Forget This Controller with a button that says Forget, but I'm not sure I should click it! I don't know if that only removes the controller from my cloud account but keeps it on the Master Admin's account. 

 

Is there any solution that doesn't force me to redo the whole network?

Hi  @Notchad 

 

For Omada controllers, there is only one master administrator who has access to all features. The account who first launches the controller will be the master administrator. To change the master administrator account, please refer to the following steps:

    1) Log in the controller using the master administrator account;

    2) Choose Global View, go to Account > User, and click the Edit button after the master administrator account, then you will need to input the password. After that, you will see a button Permission Transfer, click it, and Select new main administrator, click Apply. In this step, we can only choose an existing management account of the controller, if the new admin account is not one, you need to invite it as a user of this controller first.

    3) Login the controller with the new account, you will see it became the new master admin account of the the controller.

Note: This operation will transfer the Main Administrator permissions of the current account to the new account, and the current account will be downgraded as Cloud Administrator.

According to everything you revealed, your only other choice is to factory reset and reconfigure unless you can get in touch with the Master Admin to unbind his account from this controller.

Thanks for replying. Yes I think we can contact him. Though the hangup is he isn't sure how to unbind the account, it seems. Or at least that was impression I got from his last communication. Basically, we'd like it if we could transfer the OC200 to another Omada cloud management account. I think he'd do that if I had some instructions to point him to. Is there a link to instructions for that? I did try looking in the manual, page 440, but it looks like only a local Master Admin account is mentioned there. I looked at page 21 of the manual which mentions adding a controller to a TP-Link account but I'm guessing if someone else has claimed the OC200 then when I type in the serial will it just tell me it is already tied to another account? Step 3 is saying the controller needs to be reset to defaults, anyway, so doesn't look like that will help.

Hi, I just came back to say thank you! We were able to set up a time with the Master Admin account owner and we were able to transfer that role to another account using your instructions.
