HARD DISK NOT DETECTED
Hello everyone,
I have a NVR1008-8P. When I purchased it I bought it PWP with a Toshiba S300 1TB. It was working fine for a while, and then it just didn't. There was alarm from the NVR, I disconnected the hard disk and returned it to the supplier. They then proceeded to replace me with a new one.
However, when I connect the new one, HDD light is on, I can hear the hard disk spinning for a bit. But under settings I can't find the hard disk, I then reset the NVR to factory default in hopes to find the initialize button for the hard disk, but under that column, there was still no hard disk in the list.
Would appreciate any help. Thank you and have a great day ahead!

Hi @RJ88
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
If you are certain you have correctly installed the SATA cable, you may consider proceeding with RMA.

Thank you for the prompt reply. May I know for which RMA are you referring to? Is it the hard disk or the NVR itself? Do you have any other troubleshooting tips I can use at the moment?
RMA would be inconvenient at the moment.
Thank you.

The NVR. If you can be sure the HDD and the cable are fine, then the cause should be the NVR.
If you did not update the firmware lately, it suddenly turns into this state which seems to be a problem with the NVR.
Power outage could be damaging to the HDD.

Now that I think of it, with the first hard disk, it was working fine, but after the firmware update, the hard disk had a problem and cannot be used. I sent it back for RMA.
On another note, I had already reset the device about a few days ago, and when I check for firmware update, it has already been up to date.
Is there any way out of this? Because if I send the NVR back for RMA, it'll take at least one or two months, and I cannot afford to be in the dark without the surveillance. As of now, I am able to view, but no playback.
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!

From what version did you upgrade?
So, you are pretty certain that this is caused by a firmware update? Is this what you mean?
No physical changes or dismantling. Just upgraded the firmware and it turned out to be bad?

Yes, I'm very sure it was after the update. I remembered when it came back on after the update, then the hard disk notifications pop up and the NVR made the alarm tone. Then only I dismantle, disconnect and reconnect it back.
I wasn't sure what was the firmware update previously though.
So, you got a way for me?
Thanks a lot!

I don't think I have a way for you.
To rule this out as a hardware issue, consider downgrading your firmware to the previous one. Same steps as the upgrade. If this fails, this firmware does not allow downgrade and I have not received a reply from the test team regarding the issue.
If this persists, it is pretty much a hardware issue. No other way but to RMA it.

I am sorry but I am not too familiar with the NVR system. Could you guide me on how I can perform a downgrade for the firmware? That will be really a great of help.
