Model: EAP783
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I was very surprised to see my new EAP783 automatically create a TP_TX_VAP SSID that I don't seem to have any control of. I read that this SSID is automatically created for compatibility with some broken Wi-Fi 7 implementations which seems very dubious as I don't see any other vendor doing this. I do not particularly care about the few devices that may not be compatible, the bigger problem is that this SSID presents itself as an open network and can cause a problem for users, once they click it once their device will remember it and continually try to connect and fail to roam properly.

I do not want any other SSIDs in my environment other than the ones I explicitly configure. Please expedite new firmware to allow us to remove this SSID.

Hi  @TLnet

Hello, thank you for posting on the TP-Link community, and we certainly appreciate all your feedback here. While we don't have any specific details that I can share around if the mentioned firmware will come around all Wifi 7 EAPs, I'll make sure to push the related team.

Feel free to let us know of any other feature requests you may have, we’d be happy to send them up for you.
