Which cabletester to purchase

Good day all,

I am looking to replace the current switches we use with Omada switches, they seem to be a good price and have good features, but I need another piece of information.

Before I do that, I plan to purchase a cable testing unit from Fluke Networks.

In the past I could use that to test connections and have it show which switch and port I was connected to.

Will this work the same on Omada switches? If not, can someone recommend a network diagnostic tool that would work?

Hi @Palli

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

We don't have information on that.

Based on your description, it could be supplying a pulse to the cable so it pops up on the LED of that port. That might be the way to test it. If that's the case, it should be compatible with any networking devices.

I appreciate the response, I think I might not have been clear.

I've added a photo of a Fluke cable tester querying the switch and showing exactly where the cable is connected.

In the pic it reads the hostname of the switch, which model, the ip address and which port it's connected to.

That's where I wonder if it could query Omada switches as well.

You probably refer to the cable tester manual on how it is discovered. Not sure of it.
