Hello everyone,

I have the following problem. I have three WLAN groups on my site because there are several halls there.

Example:

  • WLAN Group 1: WIFI Guest (VLAN 10), Hall 1 ( VLAN 11)
  • WLAN Group 2: WIFI Guest (VLAN 10), Hall 2 (VLAN 12)
  • WLAN Group 3: WIFI Guest (VLAN 10), Hall 3 (VLAN 13)

These are fictitious details, but this is how you have to imagine it.

I naturally have WLAN group 1 on the APs in Hall 1, WLAN group 2 in Hall 2 and so on.

If I now create a portal, I can select the SSIDs. So in my example, I have to set all three ‘WIFI Guest’ on the one portal. I have selected the voucher version.

However, I still have to enter a new voucher every time I switch between the halls. Why is that? It's the same VLAN and the same portal.

Do the WLAN groups interfere there?

BR Tim

You cant Roam between wlan group. Thats why you have to Authenticator for every group.

you can look at PPSK, it will solve your problem, you can also create many ssid in a wlan group then turn off unwanted ssid on each access point
go to access point propperty, config and wlans

But does that make sense?

That's what WLAN groups are for. The best solution would of course be if you could select several WLAN groups per AP.

How could I realise this so that one WLAN is on all APs but each hall (in my case) still has its own WLAN with its own VLAN?

Hard to say since I don't know anything about your solution, but why use a separate VLAN for each hall? It just becomes a mess anyway when you roam between VLANs you get problems with IP addresses, when you roam between two networks with the same SSID the IP won't renew.

Well.

Actually, that makes sense.

The guest WLAN with the same VLAN in every hall should be available everywhere. However, each hall should also have its own productive WLAN with own vlan.

And I can only do that via WLAN groups at the moment. Because it makes no sense for me to broadcast ‘WLAN Hall 2’ in Hall 5 because it doesn't belong there. But the guest WLAN should already be there.
