Sorted - it appears the LAN ports on the router needed converting to a 'layer2bridge' - works well now.

I've a new EAP 110 that I've connected to a Huawei Echolife HG8245A router. When connected, the appropriate Lan light flashes on the router and I can see the EAP is broadcasting wifi at full strength...
