Is it possible for you to test the temperature instead of feeling it hot? Try to disable UPnP, which may help to solve crashing issue.

If possible, connect less than 10 clients to see if the problem continues. Try to disable UPnP to see what happens.

The latest firmware of W9980 fixed the bug that the speed dropped on the BT line of UK when G.INP was enabled. Upgrade it and test. :) http://uk.tp-link.com/download/TD-W9980_V1.html#Firmware
