1. Factory reset the router. 2. Update the firmware 170630 locally. Download the firmware 170630 from the website, then manually click Upgrade button to upload the firmware file.

I haven't tried QOS, but I have the same issue with the antivirus options. TP-LINK support said to factory reset and not set it back up with my saved settings file. Yeah, not about to spend the time doing that because I change a lot of settings! If you try it, let us know if it works.

BTW, last night I downloaded the Tether app to my phone to see if I could turn on the antivirus from it, but when I tried going to the antivirus page, it gave me an error saying it couldn't read my antivirus settings. Because you are also having trouble with the QOS, I tried accessing that page from the app, but got the same error. I thought that was interesting!(I don't like that the tether app shows my Wi-Fi passwords in the open and don't have a need for the app's features, so I don't use it and deleted it off my phone again after this experiment.)

I had the same problem. I was able to fix this by downloading the firmware via a browser, not the button in the router settings and then manually upload and install the firmware. I re-installed the exact same version and did not have to reset back to factory defaults or anything else. Your mileage may vary but I would try this before wiping all of your config and starting over.

... and I din't have to reset to factory default first, either.

Did you load your settings from a backup file after that or did you have to manually set everything up again?

Good luck to you all that updated to 170630. About two weeks after updating my c5400 to 170630 I started seeing random reboots and the UI was very laggy/buggy when trying to change settings or even just view all the settings. Not too long after the reboots started I lost all wifi on my router. Factory reset, reflash firmware, factory reset again and again....nothing would bring it back to a usable state. Support even sent me a "Beta" firmware to try but even it didn't help. I had to RMA the unit ultimately. I believe there are some major issues with the 170630 firmware that need to be addressed by TP-Link.

No, I didn't. All my settings were kept. I did follow the update instructions to unplug the USB storage device I had plugged in to the router before doing the upgrade.

djf8, I have had no issues with the current firmware except for what is mentioned in this thread (antivirus not sticking). I upgraded via the router downloading it, so will soon try the method mentioned here to see if I can get the antivirus working.
