Just bought the above router. But unlike my old Netgear router, there does not seem to be a way to change the device name of connected devices i.e. mask the real name for easier identification. This is necessary, as some devices (especially android devices) have some generic name e.g. android-8546da138c2dfada that cannot be changed without rooting the device. Is this possible? Can this feature be requested for future updates?

My set top box and 55" TV are named simply as *

I am using the Archer C-9.

Can I edit their names at all?

Try The Mobile App

I have the Archer C3150 and have installed the tether mobile app. I was able to click the "clients" button at the bottom (on iOS), click a device, and then click the name to rename it.

I don't know how to do this same thing on the router itself, but I confirmed the renamed device appears on both the mobile app & router mgmt console.
