Hy guys!

I live in Brazil, and acquired a pair of RE650 V1.0 to extend my home network, and my router is an ASUS RT-AC88U. I had it configured to use channel 161 at the 5 GHz band, but the RE650 don't "see" this channels, once they're the EU version. This force me to use the 5 GHz lower channels, that are crowded here. My question is: may I safely update the firmware to US version, once that would allow me set the router to the upper channels? There aren't legal restrictions to these channels here, but I don't know if the hardware of the RE650 from US is different or equal to the EU RE650.
Could somebody help me?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: please excuse some English error!

Hi,

It's not allowed to update the firmware from EU to US and vice versa. It should be fine to use lower channels, as 5GHz is not crowded as 2.4GHz.

Hi!

Firstly, thank you vieldcs! But my question is whether it is not recommended or is impossible due to hardware restrictions. The prohibition of use of certain channels is determined by local laws, which does not occur in Brazil.

So, I would like to know if the repeater will work normally with the firmware from another region or not.

@MarcusVR it will work, yes... I've already done that, if it is the same version it will only change the region, nothing else.
