Hi,

I have changed the DNS settings under IPv4 to 192.168.0.105 (a raspberry PI with Pihole DNS setup), this works fine for all hosts that use the router as DNS (and the router uses the Pihole for DNS).
But if I use the Guest Wifi network, the guest hosts can not reach the dns server (192.168.2.1).
Some questions:

- I don't understand why the guest wifi can not use the router as dns server and that the router do dns lookups to a host in a seperate network segment (192.168.0.0/24), the router should do the DNS lookup and forward the dns lookup results from the raspberry pi (normal wifi vlan) to the guest host (guest wifi vlan).
- and if the first dns lookup fails, why isn't the 2nd dns entry (8.8.8.8) used for the guest wifi hosts?

I can only use the Pihole on my raspberry (192.168.0.105/24) for the normal wifi VLAN (192.168.0.0/24) but can not use this from the guest wifi but also the 2nd DNS entry (8.8.8.8) is not used as a fallback.

How can I fix this?

Unfortunately the Guest Network is totally separated from the primary network, which makes it virtually impossible for this to work.

Your anwer makes no sense: the requests are going to the router (DHCP assigns the router as DNS server) the router should handle the DNS requests.
But besides that point; why is the 2nd DNS server entry not tried? (8.8.8.8 google dns), I am semi ok for what reason it fails for the first dns server but the 2nd is/should be available.

Anyone? The 2nd DNS server not being used on the Guest wifi network is frustrating..I can not use my own DNS servers this way.

Just wait till your deco 's gateway changes your whole network to 192.168.1.1, then you will have all kinds of fun making the pihole work. I too have pi hole and had this happen today. After resetting my cable modem.
