TP LINK N600 TD- W8980 duel band modem

Firmware Version : 0.6.0.1.7 v.000e Build 140909 Rel 52176n

I have been experiencing ongoing problems with the internet slowing down.The service provider has come to my home. They checked the line and did a number of tests and said that the modem is causing the issue.
They said the SRT error was 80 un-correctable per min and modem was unable to process errors properly with these errors & causing speed to go down and up.
They said to look at firmware first or change modem. [FONT=Arial]I am using a TP LINK N600 TD- W8980 duel band modem for ADSL 2. [FONT=Arial]Internet provider TPG Internet –Australia[/FONT][/FONT]
They have slowed down internet to SNR to keep more stable
