TL-WA801ND poor performance and freezes
Model :
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
Access point: 2x TL-WA801ND v2, firmware version 3.16.9 Build 150422 Rel.54631n
Channel set to auto, mixed mod b/g/n, different SSID for router and each AP
Modem/Router: TP Link Archer D7 v1 00000002, firmware version 1.6.0 0.9.1 v002d.0 Build 160216 Rel.57110n
I live in a three-story house, on two of these floors I have a TL-WA801ND for wi-fi. On the second floor I have a wifi camera always running.
Problems started when I switched from my old router (Asus DSL-N66U) to the Archer D7. With Asus router I had no problems at all, with the Archer D7 the AP performances dropped badly. I cannot use my htpc via wifi anymore, cause streaming from my homeserver lags a lot and freezes every time. Problems are worse on the floor with the wifi camera, if there are more than three clients connnected (usually the wifi camera, two Android smartphones and a Windows 10 tablet) the AP freezes, accepting connections from client devices but not giving any service, nor local or remote (no access to wifi camera or home server, no Internet access).
I tried to hard reset the router and both the AP, the firmware is the latest stable for any device, AP settings are the same used with old router.
What can I try to improve performances and avoid freezing? Different channnels? Only N mode? What else?
