Hi folks!!
I am not very IT literate but can follow manuals and like to learn new stuff. I just discovered this forum, I don't know much about the forum or the people on it but hopefully you are all a jolly welcoming sort!!

We have broadband (non-fibre) provided by Sky. The WiFi from the Skyhub works fine downstairs but upstairs, not a hope. This is mostly down the neighbour using 3 devices for streaming Sky TV. They have their own Skyhub, and the EM150 and EM130 SkyQ boosters. Upstairs their WiFi just drowns ours out. Also, their devices autoscan/autoadjust for least conflict, so sit on Bands 1, 6 and 11.
I have a TPLink Archer C59. I placed it upstairs and ran Cat5e cable from a LAN port on the Skyhub to a LAN port on the C59. I set the C59 as a clone of the Skyhub SSID / password, copied over the security settings and gave it a static IP outside of the DHCP range of the Skyhub. This works, I have WiFi upstairs now, but I am told is not the best way of doing this with the C59. It's the best I could come up with in a hurry on a Sunday evening though! Does the C59 have a different setting that will improve the efficiency of what I am trying to acheive? Or should I ditch the C59 altogether and buy an access point? All I want to do is use the C59 to make my existing WiFi good upstairs. I am not trying to add a seperate guest network or anything like that.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

What's best for you...it depends. Another way to set the C59, is to WDS bridge it with your Skyhub. In that case, you don't need a cable to connect the C59 with Skyhub. But the thing is, WDS may not work, compatibility issue with Skyhub.

Now the way you configure the C59, it's working like an access point. With cable hook up to Skyhub, connection is stable.
