Richdem,
So you returned the defective c5400 and got another one, and that one is working as it should? Great news! Yes, the C5400 provides excellent wifi coverage for me as well!

Yes that's correct I returned it too the store I purchased it from. I tried connecting to all 3 wifi bands out of the box on the exchanged router then updated the firmware, Tested again and all is working great so far

Yes this is true! I did 2 warranty replacements within a month. My second replacement is working as it should. No problems what so ever! I tried to sell it for half price and I got no offers, I had it listed for 3 weeks and finally decided I am stuck with it. Just waiting for it to bomb! Hope it doesn't though, I really like the performance.

Mine has been working for over a year with no issues. What router are you looking at as a replacement?

Here's an update ...

The 2nd router started to kick all devices on/off the 2nd 5GHZ band yesterday. I rebooted the device and still exactly the same. Boxed the thing straight up and returned it to Best Buy fir a refund. I am pretty disappointed that such an expensive router has a real issue such as this. My Archer C3200 was rock solid. Anyway for the same price as the C5400 I picked up two Asus AC1900P's and have set up the AI Mesh mode. Have to say pretty impressed, setup up was super easy and I now have the benefits of a mesh system and can still have all the control over the router which I could not do with the TP-Link Deco M5 that I tried.

Hopefully TP-Link will fix this major flaw for all those poor folks that are stuck with their C5400's

I'm having the same issue as a lot of people in this thread. I can never get my 5ghz Band 1 to work! It is always greyed out on the setup page and says I can't use it due to country/region restriction yet my 5ghz Band 2 is always available. I've tried everything from firmware upgrades to factory restores...

Super frustrated.

Fast and good signal until you update the firmware. There is a known bug that of course I only found out about AFTER updating the firmware automatically. I lost both of the 5G radios, I can not see 2.4G band ...Is there any fix for C5400 issue? Help me!

Replacement is necessary. call support for RMA. Here's the link for product registration. Good luck..... https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/replacement-warranty#box_7

5Ghz band is not Showing up in Android Phones
2018-05-28 14:50:00
Model : Archer C5400Version : V2Firmware : 1.2.2 Build 20170912I have a TP-Link Archer C5400 Version 2 Wifi Router, All 3 bands are working fine in windows laptop and iphones but why the 5Ghz bands are not showing up in Android devices like Samsung, HTC, Huawei devices under Wifi Network selection. It is not a Region restriction problem definitely because 5Ghz bands are working fine in iPhone and Windows laptops in my region. I have also tried changing channels of 5Ghz band but nothing made it visible in android devices. Is it a Hardware issue or a firmware issue?
