Archer C3200 Firmware Update Since 2016?!
Archer C3200 Firmware Update Since 2016?!

Hello. I am trying to submit an 'Email Support' and it always fails when submitting.

My question was if you are working / planning to release any firmware update to this model, looking at the fact that the current one is from 2016 (which seems a bit ridiculous) and plenty of security vulnerabilities have been discovered since. Moreover, all your competitors provide at least 2017 update, if not 2018.

Thank you.

It is not like 6 months ago the major KRACK vulnerability was discovered, and this is only the main one. What about others from 2016...

I would have understand to pay £10 for a router and not receive updates, but not over £100. Apparently my ticket went through their support and they asked me for proof that the router is vulnerable. Lol?! Am I supposed to become a hacker now just to prove something that the entire world knows? I am actually thinking now of returning it...

Others cheaper routers (this brand) seems to received fixes, even in 2018...

Well what can we do? - Nothing.Let just wait and see if they release firmware for all tp-link router's that were not updated since 2016/2017.

Look what I just found: https://www.ctrl.blog/entry/tplink-firmware-outdated-downloads

"That still leaves 62,5 % of the TP-Link websites in Europe with outdated or missing firmware releases."

Nice. Very nice.

I emailed about my Archer C8 V1 (which has 2 year old firmware) and got this reply:

"At first, please note Krack mainly influence the wireless clients intead of the wifi signal source.
Generally speaking, as long as you use C8 as normal router mode, it won't be influenced by Krack.
BTW, there will be new firmware fix Krack issue in the future as well. But I cannot confirm the specific date."

FYI: Image in product support shows C3200 "End of Life"

I'm beginning to feel the pain.

No updates for recent vulnerabilities. And today's Tether app has a number of older models added to IFTTT, Alexa functionality. But not for C3200.

I just purchased 6 months ago after the KRACK fiasco expecting a firmware update.

I guess I'll just have to learn to live with disappointment.

C3150 (V1) is no different with last update in 2016, in reality that is TP-Link for you so the easiest way is to vote with your wallet next time and choose another brand if it bothers you.

TP Link is by far the worst company I have ever seen when it comes to support and firmware updates . I have the c2300 and the firmware update from last September mess up my mac filtering and the home case system completely failed . This will be my first and last TP link router , I have had routers from the big 4 and never had this issue with any of them when it came to firmware updates .

That doesn't get you a new firmware. You just have to face TP Link support is the worst of all router companies .
