First, useful information about my router model, connectivity and etc:

- Model: TL-WR941ND v5 (FCC ID TE7WR941NXV5).
- Firmware Version: 3.16.9 Build 150311 Rel.62186n (latest available @ TP-Link support page).
- All RJ45 cables are CAT7 SSTP.
- All devices are plugged in a surge protected and noise filtered wall power socket.
- Main DOCSIS router (Humax HG100R-L2) in bridge mode with it's wireless radio disabled, providing 35Mbps download and 3.5 upload from brazilian Net Virtua internet provider, connected in the blue WAN port.
- TP-Link router AC/DC power adapter is in good shape and providing solid ~9.4v (checked with Fluke multimeter).
- Devices connected to the router: 1 x desktop computer in the yellow LAN1 port and 8 android devices ranging from Android 7.0 (Nougat) to 8.0 (Oreo), all wireless-N.

About two months ago I started to have a very annoying problem with my TP-Link router, it started to freeze randomly and dropping both Wi-Fi and LAN connections at least three times a day, making the router config. page unavailable until I power cycle the router.

The Humax DOCSIS router do not freeze, because when I loose internet connection (both Wi-Fi and LAN), If I disconnect my desktop from the TP-Link LAN port and connect it direct to the Humax LAN port, connection becomes immediately available, showing that it's the TP-Link who is actually causing connection problems.

My TP-Link have been running solid for almost 3 years and just recently started to cause problems. I already tried to restore factory settings and reflash the latest firmware, but nothing solves the problem.

I believe it's something related to the recent problems with MDNS packet flood related to the recent Google Play updates people have been talking about the past weeks.

I already tried to contact TP-Link support, they asked for photos of my router to "confirm the model and see if there is a firmware update available that can fix problems" just to waste my time since in the first message I made clear that I already have the latest firmware publicly available, and after confirming the obvious, they asked me to send back my router to the factory, which is totally out of question since the router have almost 3 years (warranty ran out).

I tried to block multicast DNS request at the MAC Filtering pages but the router won't allow me to add multicast addresses to the list.

So what's the options I have? Hope for a router firmware update or buy a "new" one just for the firmware updates?

So there is no hope for me and TL-WR941ND v5 (later XV5 model) users but throw the router in the trash can?

The router is unusable in this current state, freezing every hour and needing a power cycle to return to normal operation, just to freeze again hours later.
