I was also struggling with the auto reboot of my AC1200 V1. The router randomly reboots and happening more than once a day. It went so bad and reboots every 1-2 hours, when my three children stream their online classes continuously for 5 hours a day. When I set the router transmit power to low, it seemed to help a bit and the reboot did not happen as often, but twice a day. It is from this I concluded the router got heated up so much that the CPU rebooted itself. I used some small circular plastic to raise the router up to allow more air to cool the router. Note that the ventilation holes are only at the bottom of the router. I have been monitoring for two days now and no more random reboots.

Hello, sorry for any inconvenience caused for the reboot issue you encountered with the Archer C1200 router.

Please ensure you are running the latest firmware on your C1200 router, which can be downloaded from the TP-Link official website. If you still encounter the auto-reboot issue when running the latest version, please check the below beta firmware that provided by the R&D:
Archer C1200(EU)_V1: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202001/20200103/Archer C1200(EU)_V1_180308(Beta).zip
Archer C1200(EU)_V2: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202001/20200103/Archer C1200(EU)_V2_180308(Beta).zip
Archer C1200(US)_V1: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202001/20200103/Archer C1200(US)_V1_180308(Beta).zip
Archer C1200(US)_V2: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202001/20200103/Archer C1200(US)_V2_180307(Beta).zip

Below is the guidance to install it manually on your router (Method 2):
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2139/
Note: This beta firmware is mainly built for the auto-reboot issue on the Archer C1200 router, if yours is not the auto-reboot issue, DON'T upgrade to this firmware. Meanwhile, please verify the hardware version and region version first before the upgrade, a wrong firmware upload may brick your device and void the warranty, thanks a lot~

I have a Archer C1200 v2.0  with the same problem. I have flashed the 180308 beta firmware and set the wifi transmit power to low, but still it reboots randomly sometimes. Is there something else I can try besides returning the router?

@Kalle

Try to reset it to factory defaults by holding the reset button on it until all the LEDs go off then on, reconfigure it from scratch, then monitor again.

BTW, how many devices are connected to router, wired, and wirelessly? If possible, try to reduce the connected devices, then monitor again.

When did you purchase this router? Please check and ensure you are using the original power adapter, which is 12 V ⎓ 1 A.

@Kevin_Z

Ok. Will try to do a factory reset.

Last time it rebooted I only had one device connected via wifi. I was watching Netflix on my TV when it rebooted in the middle of the film. I usually don't have more than two wired devices connected and one wireless device connected at the same time.

I purchased the router about two years ago and I have had problems with it rebooting since the beginning. I usually use the router in the evening when getting home from work, so I don't notice if it reboots during the day or night. Lately I have been playing some online games and it is really noticeable when it reboots in the middle of a session.

I am using the original power adaptor that came with the router.

@Kevin_Z

I did a factory reset, but it took less than an hour until I had another reboot with only one internet radio device connected via wifi.

@Kalle

If that is the case, we recommend reaching out to the local tech support, so they can work with you in looking into the issue further or help with the replacement.

@Kevin_Z

I contacted the tech support at the store I bought the router from and after almost two months got a new router of the same model. The new router has the same problem with random reboots.
